Who we are

The history of Wellington Art Society begins in 1981 when, thanks to the ideas and efforts of Johanna Secor, a world-renowned artist from Connecticut, the Society was first formally established. Since its beginning the Wellington Art Society has focused on artist development and serving the community through the many manifestations of art.

In 2005, the Wellington Art Society incorporated and gained its 501 (c ) (3) charitable organization status. Meetings, held monthly September through May, featured programs including demonstrations, guest speakers, model draws, and marketing and professional artist development Information.

Today, Wellington Art Society exhibitions and events provide opportunities for artists, students, art enthusiasts, and our network of communities to come together and learn about the creative process, interact with fellow artists, and be inspired. The support of community partners and sponsors for our events help fund scholarship awards and community ArtReach program. Since the inception of the scholarship fund in 2001, scholarships of over 135 thousand dollars have been given to local graduating art students for continuing their visual arts education at the college level.

We are a community of very creative, hard working, and expressive artists  whose art doesn’t stop at visual. Some of us are also musicians, actors, dancers, writers, poets, and more. With WAS we have the opportunity to inspire each other.

Step into a world of creativity and inspiration. We're here to help you discover your artistic potential and bring your unique vision to life in a truly unforgettable way.
